David Craighead was born in Union Parish Louisiana, a rural area in North Louisiana. His mother died when he was young and he grew up with his two sisters. His father kept the family together and they started a quartet. David was 21 years old when he bought his first piano with a down payment of twelve monthly installments. He later started a route of juke boxes and many different styles of music. David bought and put the songs on the juke boxes that had a profound influence on his unique style of music.

When David was on vacation in Colorado on September 11, 2001, he was so upset by this tragedy disaster and returned home immediately. He felt that every American should do something and he knew how to do. David wrote " Our Home America", so he could share it with the world. The other songs that David written and performs reflects the different styles that influenced his music over the years. Mr. Craighead is now a senior citizen that performs several times a month in North Louisiana.
